Samuel Asuma

Dr. Samuel Asuma serves as Lead Pastor of Sonlight Community Church (2013–present). Before entering full-time ministry, he practiced law in Kenya for 12 years and is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. Ordained in 2010, Dr. Asuma previously served at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Louisville, KY (2007–2012) as Minister of Education, where he equipped leaders and built Bible-centered discipleship pathways.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law, a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Columbia International University, and a Ph.D. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Samuel’s preaching is Scripture-rooted, Christ-exalting, and mission-focused. Drawing on his legal background and pastoral experience, he loves helping people connect biblical truth to everyday life. He is married to Gladys, and they have two adult children.
